Course Overview
Units of Competency
- CPPUPM3008 Inspect and report on timber pests.
- CPPUPM3010 Control timber pests.
Course Outcome
Students will be issued a Statement of Attainment for completed units of competency. Successful completion of our Timber Pest Manager course will help students obtain insurance coverage and licencing (refer to your state licensing requirements). Prior to enrolment, and upon completion, please consult your state’s licensing authority on their specific license requirements and application processes.
Mode of Assessment
All units are assessed holistically through the online portal, and consist of:
- Theory Assessment
- Practical Video Assessments
- Logbook
Course Entry
All students must have:
- A Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
- Access to a licensed Timber Pest Manager
- Suitable Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills.
Work Placement
Rapid Training requires all students to be employed in the Pest industry or engage in a Work Placement Agreement * (work experience) with a qualified Timber Pest Inspector & Manager to complete the practical elements in all the enrolled units of competency.
During the placement the student must provide evidence of them performing a:
- Logbook (including photos) of ten (10) Timber Pest Inspections including:
- Accessing varied construction property sites; and
- Accurate identification of ACTIVE Subterranean Termites and other timber pest species and activity; and
- Identification of timber pest damage
- Practical Video assessment of three (3) Timber Pest Inspections, including:
- Accessing varied construction property sites; and
- Accurate identification of ACTIVE Subterranean Termites and other timber pest species and activity; and
- Identification of timber pest damage
- Logbook (including photos) of ten (10) Timber Pest Control applications including:
- Accessing varied construction property sites; and
- Accurate identification of timber pest species, including five (5) sites with Subterranean Termites activity; and
- Appropriate application of various treatment methods, including:
- Controls applied on five (5) sites with Subterranean Termite activity
- A minimum of one (1) site treatment must include a trench and drill & inject treatment.
- Practical Video assessment of three (3) Timber Pest Remedial applications, including:
- Development and execution of a Timber Pest Management Plan on each site; and
- Accessing varied construction property sites; and
- Accurate identification of timber pest species, including two (2) sites with Subterranean Termites activity; and
- Appropriate application of various treatment methods, including:
- Controls applied on two (2) sites with Subterranean Termite activity
- A minimum of one (1) site treatment must include a trench and drill & inject treatment.
*The Work Placement Agreement form must be provided in the enrolment application, or the application will be withdrawn.

- Online Lessons and training material: Course material is interactive and readily available from our training portal. Access recorded webinars, hosted by our trainers, covering key course materials.
- Support Requests Forms & In-portal Messages: Use our online training portal to submit your course or assessment queries 24/7 using either our ‘Student Support Request digital form or our leave a message for a trainer with the contact function.
- Student Support Hour: Virtual face to face support with our trainers, for assistance with course material and assignments held twice a week.
- Digital forms are available in the online training portal for students request course extensions, suspensions, or cancellations (if required).
- Other: To provide additional support and reference, students are encouraged to conduct independent research, as well as to purchase/source copies of:
- Textbook “Australian Termites” by Staunton, Hadlington, and Beck
- AEPMA Codes of Practice for: Timber Pest Management
- Australian Standards: AS3660 and AS4349
