Course Overview

When customers are experiencing or are concerned about timber pests in their home, your knowledge on timber pest inspection and control processes and operations can help assure them that your company can help ease their burden.

In this non-accredited short theory course, you will learn or refresh your knowledge on:

  • Understanding the treatment application practices for controlling timber pests and timber pest activity that impact on the health, safety or amenity of persons or environments.
  • Assessing the nature and extent of the timber pest and timber pest activity
  • Analysing the situation
  • Preparing an inspection report on managing the timber pest activity.
  • Reviewing existing reports relating to pest activity at the premises and designing, implementing, and monitoring a management plan to control timber pests
  • Selection of equipment, chemicals, materials, and methods.

Upon successful course completion, students will be issued a Statement of Participation for completed modules.

Assessment of this short course consists of multiple-choice quizzes completed after course lessons on the online portal.

  1. Online Lessons and training material: Course material is interactive and readily available from our training portal. Access recorded webinars, hosted by our trainers, covering key course materials.
  2. Support Requests Forms & In-portal Messages: Use our online training portal to submit your course or assessment queries 24/7 using either our ‘Student Support Request digital form or our leave a message for a trainer with the contact function.
  3. Student Support Hour: Virtual face to face support with our trainers, for assistance with course material and assignments held twice a week.
  4. Digital forms are available in the online training portal for students request course extensions, suspensions, or cancellations (if required).
  5. Other: To provide additional support and reference, students are encouraged to conduct independent research, as well as to purchase/source copies of:
  • Textbook “Australian Termites” by Staunton, Hadlington, and Beck
  • AEPMA Codes of Practice for:
    • Rodent Management
    • Bed Bug Infestations in Australia
    • Timber Pest Management
  • Australian Standards: AS3660 and AS4349
