After completing an apprenticeship as a “chippy”, Don completed his “Clerk of Works” to qualify for his Gold (Open) License in NSW. He traded for 8 years as a building contractor in the commercial and residential sectors.
Don then joined the Lend Lease group of companies in NSW as a Site Manager and Project Manager. In 1988 one of Don’s projects was awarded an “Excellence in Construction” award for the refurbishment of a historical building in the centre of Sydney.
In 2002, Don and his wife Dolly moved to Queensland and are currently Directors of D&D Dixon Pty Ltd - a small building consultancy that is well known and respected by national law firms, insurers, industry associations, the Commission and fellow consultants.
Don currently holds QBCC Licences as:
A member of Master Builders Electoral College, Don also sits on 5 committees within Master Builders Qld.
Don is currently the Vice President of the Building Dispute Practitioners Society (Qld) and an elected member of the QCAT User Group Committee that periodically sits with the President of QCAT and his Senior Members that preside over the Building List to review and improve QCAT’s building dispute procedures.
Don is a practiced author of many Expert Opinion Building Reports and one of a few certified by Unisearch Global (a Division of the University of NSW) as a qualified Expert Witness in the discipline of building construction.
