This cover is considered essential. It covers claims arising from professional negligence, errors and omissions. Professional Indemnity Insurance also covers advice provided either by the spoken or written word. It specifically covers claims arising out of inspections, quotations and where you perform a treatment that proves unsuccessful for whatever reason.

The Policy must cover the failure in a Pest Inspection Report to record pest activity and/or associated damage. The cover needs to be sufficient to provide for payment of both the damage caused and the cost of a legal case.

Some Pest Management firms incorrectly consider that if they do not carry out Pest Inspections and Reports they do not need Professional Indemnity Insurance. These people are leaving their business exposed to a significant claim.

You see if you spray the wrong chemical by mistake, or if you mix a chemical incorrectly then the claim would be on your Professional Indemnity Policy.

Similarly if termites return after a treatment and cause damage: or if you fail to check for pipes and then put your drill through a concealed pipe, then the claim may be on your Professional Indemnity Policy.
